Standing Nude, Original Watercolour by Rozsa Mezei

$295.00

Beautiful nude watercolour study on paper by the renowned late Hungarian Canadian artist, Rozsa Mezei, signed at lower margin, professionally framed with anti-reflective glass.

Mezei was born in Hungary and came to Toronto in the 50s following the Hungarian Revolution and Rózsa began art studies at Central Technical School under Charles Goldhamer, Audrey Garwood, Sam Zimerman and others. By 1967 she was creating book and magazine covers, illustrations and spot designs for Simon and Schuster, Greywood Publishing, and various magazines, and later had her paintings and wall hangings shown in Toronto, Europe and Japan. In 1970 she opened The RM Gallery on Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto. In 1975, when Stephen Mezei founded the art magazine, Onion, Rózsa designed the logo, acted as art consultant, and contributed her own elegant line drawings to the publication while continuing to run her gallery.

In a soft pastel palette, Mezei used expressive strokes and delicate shading to masterfully create a sensual representation of a nude woman infused with feminine energy..
