“Little Brown Jug”, 1986, Pastel on Paper

Wonderful 80s still life pastel composition on paper by the award winning Canadian artist Mary Toplack (1925 -2014), signed, dated, and titled on the back, Artist’s bio attached to the verso. A life-long art promoter and a much-loved artist, Toplack was known for her works in clay, watercolour, inks and dyes and pastels.

Depicted here is a much more than just a “little brown jug” - the viewers are placed inside a kitchen where a contemplative moment of a hatted woman looking away from a table laden with fruits and a jug is captured in a harmonious and moody palette..
