British Plaster Relief depicting Historical Scene

Fine British plaster relief plaque depicts the charged historical moment of Mary, Queen of Scots, receiving her death warrant. Set within an opulent Renaissance-style chamber, the scene is framed by richly carved architectural details—fluted pilasters, arched panels, and intricate wall and ceiling ornamentation that evoke the grandeur of a royal court. At the center, Mary stands in a long, flowing gown with a high ruffled collar, her posture poised yet resolute, as she reaches toward the official document. To the right, a cluster of men in Elizabethan attire, their faces tense and solemn, present and witness the warrant, with two restraining another as though to maintain order.
